The Little Rippers course is all about having fun riding bikes - it's the perfect place for young kids to come and learn to ride and progress their skills. Starting off in a fun, safe environment this course is perfect for kids aged 7 to 10 years old. Using games, challenges and simple coaching techniques they will develop their bike handling skills, meet new friends and learn about the forest. With two coaches per group of 12 children we can ensure the safety and well-being of your child, while allowing them to explore the trails at Glentress. These half day sessions start simple in the Skills Loop and Green Trails before stepping up to blue trails, and possibly some of the easier red trails depending on their ability. This is the perfect foundation for working towards our Youth Academy.
Our Dirt School Youth Academy sessions are the perfect place for your child to come and develop their riding skills. As intermediate riders aged between 10 and 14 who're comfortable riding red trails, they can build on their techniques during school holidays and work their way towards our Advanced Academy using our exclusive Academy report card. With two coaches per group of 12 children we can ensure the safety and well-being of your child, while allowing them to explore new trails and skills. These half day sessions start off by brushing up on the basics before stepping up to the Freeride Park and Red/Black trails - a truly unforgettable three days.
The Advanced Academy is aimed at very experienced young riders, who may have outgrown the coaching available at their club or those who have progressed through our Youth Academy and are now looking for more challenges. Our expert coaches will guide these riders and provide a safe environment so that they can access more difficult trails and push their limits. From learning how to corner with speed to finding control on steep and natural trails, our coaches will provide the knowledge and expertise for these riders to thrive.
BASE Academy - inspired by our BASE College course, is by graduation through Advanced Academy or application process only as we venture on to the most challenging and remote terrain the Tweed Valley has to offer. BASE Academy is designed to prepare expert to elite level youngsters aged between 13 and 16 for our performance mountain biking course run in partnership with Borders College. It’s aimed at riders who’d like to develop their race results at a national or international level, provide an insight into being at college with Dirt School, or simply progress their technical riding to an elite level. Here, our most experienced coaches borrow a lot of the same techniques, sessions and locations from our BASE college course, making BASE Academy the only kids course at this level currently available in the UK.
