Why choose Dirt School?

Come and join us, whatever you ride we'll make this amazing sport better for you. We promise.

We have one simple ethos at Dirt School. To make sure your coach has not just the paperwork but the riding credentials to match. Whether that's at the head of a terrifying trail, on the start line of a big race or even just finding your feet on the bike again after a little crash, we've been there. It's this feet-on-the-ground and real world experienced approach to mountain bike coaching that's earned us respect at the top. Whether that's writing books and developing our own mountain bike tuition techniques or coaching World Champions.

Our work has taken us all over the world and we have been fortunate enough to work in partnerships that have given us great insight. The ability to fully deconstruct our sport and develop an in depth coaching knowledge, based not just in textbooks, but on clear results from our work with psychologists, physiologists, top riders and people around the world. Making you have more fun is our passion not just our jobs.

Whether it's standing trackside at the World Championships, or trailside on the Blue Route at Glentress, we’re working with riders. Come and join us, whatever you ride we'll make this amazing sport better for you. We promise.

BASE Performance Coach
Mark Scott

Our BASE performance coach, Mark Scott will already be familiar to many as one of the most well travelled Enduro World Series ex-pro racers out there, riding for Santa Cruz Bicycles since the very start of the discipline, and holding the record for the longest string of events attended for quite some time. There’s more to Mark's riding than just enduro racing however. A passionate all round cyclist he’s also expanded into other disciplines taking on everything from fast paced gravel races to huge endurance challenges, while his instagram lines and gaps on the Tweed Valleys trails are the stuff of local legend.

In more recent years, Mark added coaching to his resume where he now helps hone future generations of racers and riders and passing down the wealth of knowledge he’s amassed.

Coach & Guide
Tom Williams

Bringing his infectious smile with him wherever he goes, Tom brings the good vibes to any ride he is a part of. Starting his career working as a guide in the Whistler Bike Park in 2013, and rapidly expanding on that experience since he joined our team in March 2021, Tom has a wealth of experience working with groups on the hill. You’ll see Tom as a Coach on our Day Courses, Kids Academy or BASE College course, as well as leading guided rides around the local trails for our guiding outfit, Tweed Valley Guides.

Tom is usually found up the Golfie on his enduro bike, but it’s becoming increasingly common to see Tom aboard his gravel bike, attempting to take it down some more “coarse” terrain.
